Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel welcomed the fashion crowd into a paper garden housed inside Paris' Grand Palais on 26.1.2015. For the Spring-Summer 2015 Haute Couture Collection, the décor was inspired by a botanical glasshouse. Articulated flowers bloomed as the models passed by. Guests walked into a giant terrarium containing giant white origami tropical flowers, palm trees and banana leaves.
The Collections' accessories consisted of gardening hats bound with tulle, floral beanie hats, crystal floral encrusted tweed jackets, and suits sugary pastel colours resembling tropical flowers. Sugary pink princess coats with black details, while beanie hats were encrusted with flowers; worn baggy at the back to echo the way off-duty models are photographed for street-style blogs.
Evening gowns which looked like 3D hanging paper decorations were craftmanship at its best. For closing this season a bride walked around the catwalk with four male gardener bridesmaids in tow, each carrying a huge tropical bouquet of flowers! Yes, Spring is here.
